The Opintoluotsi.fi service was presented as an example of a Finnish online service that provides educational information at a conference of experts in adult education from the EU and prospective member states and of representatives of the European Commission and non-governmental organisations.
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2005
The Opintoluotsi.fi online service was presented as an example of a public portal based on citizens’ needs in the ICT for All exhibition held in conjunction with the UN World Summit on the Information Society.
The quality award for public online services 2004
Opintoluotsi was named best portal in the quality competition for Finnish public online services held by the Ministry of Finance in 2004 in connection with the Prime Minister’s Best Practices Awards, which were presented as part of the Information Society Programme.
The OECD Highlights 2003
In 2003 the OECD named the Opintoluotsi.fi service as a positive example of a service which attracts adults to education and training. Because Opintoluotsi.fi reaches adults, it is able to encourage them to study by presenting a wide range of educational opportunities.
The Adult Educator of the Year 2002
The Finnish adult education guild (Aikuiskasvatuksen Kilta ry) designated the Opintoluotsi.fi online service as the Adult Educator of the Year in 2002. According to the panel of judges, Opintoluotsi is a pioneering service which makes it easier to find information about education on the Internet.
