Polytechnic Education

Finnish polytechnics provide practical and vocationally oriented higher education. They emphasize close contacts with businesses and industry, especially in the regional level. Polytechnic graduates work in various specialist positions.

Finnish polytechnics offer the following studies in English:

  • Polytechnic (Bachelor’s) degree programmes
  • Polytechnic Master’s degree programmes
  • Exchange studies
  • Continuing education (e.g. MBA studies)
  • Vocational teacher education.

Finnish polytechnics do not charge tuition fees for degree studies, but students must pay the costs of their housing and meals and other expenses. Some polytechnics also charge for study materials. Non-Finnish students  are entitled to financial aid provided by the Finnish State if they live in Finland on a permanent basis for  a purpose other than studying.
